Its a wonderful life, is a song, a film, a book and yes it is wonderful but we must not forget how precious and how short it is also. For some, it can be 100 years and for others, one or two.
How we appreciate each moment of each day confirms that Yes, it’s a wonderful life.
Sometimes voice in our head will go back over the past, spending hours dissecting unfinished business. Hours disappear and all the plans you will have had for the day will be pushed aside as the voice in our head takes over.
Not only is the voice in our heads dragging us back into events which have passed but it also plays with our minds for our future.
Constant questions of what will we do if the recession does not end soon or worse still, how will we manage if we don’t get work, take head space.
All of this leads to stress and lack of joy in our lives.
What is the alternative?
The alternative is to appreciate and be thankful for each and every benefit we have in our lives this second. By appreciating and saying thank you several times a day for
- the sunshine;
- your family;
- your shoes;
- your computer;
- your clothes;
- the food you have in the fridge;
- your car;
- your friends;
- your eyesight;
- your hearing;
- your smile;
- your pet;
- and the list goes on and on. 🙂
In my own experience, I have found that the more you appreciate that which you have at any given moment, the more will come to you. It’s so simple really. There is an interesting article on (OM MANI PADME HUM – Buddist Mantras … by Lucy Bremner of Sunflower Retreats) which helps to relate the act of gratitude.
