Debt News –
Constantly hearing debt news is depressing enough and having just returned from a wonderful few days in Scotland, I was sadden to read that the Borders are suffering major debts due to the recession.
CAB Debt News Report
Thankfully the CAB are there to offer as much help with debt as they can … and this is by no means, secondary help. Debt management help with the support of the CAB can be a life line for many people living in debt.
When I read through the article, I didn’t find anything new. The same stories or case studies can be found worldwide. Losing your job can have the most impact as can not having the customers spending in your retail business, otherwise debt comes in the guise of sudden illness or marriage break-ups.
We all know that debt can befall any one of us at any time in our lives. I’ve seen it happen in my own circle of friends and the only saving grace with this recession is the fact that everyone seems to have been touched one way or another, which in turn has meant that people do talk about it. In the main, they don’t bottle it up but release the frustrations and worries to others, who can sympatise.
Because of this, most people will survive and eventually see all the opportunies around them, so that they can pick themselves up and retrain to start another means of supporting themselves financially.
With today’s technology, regardless of your age, you will always beable to find a way of generating an income.

Debt News extract …
Following is an extract from the debt news report on help with debt and outlines some of the reasons and amounts involved.
“We’ve seen some people who get really stressed over a small debt and we have seen others who owe as much as £50,000.
“A lot of people who would never have anticipated needing our help have contacted us.
“They have had quite a large mortgage which they could afford because they have earned a good wage but then suddenly they have found themselves out of work and they wonder what they are going to do.”
But she added: “It’s important that people who have any financial worries or are in danger of losing their job get advice as soon as possible.”
With the credit crunch continuing to bite, the Citizens Advice Bureau has been awarded money from the government to employ a debt advisor to raise awareness of employment rights – including the rules on holiday pay, minimum wage, and contracts.
And both employers and employees are being urged to contact the offices in either Peebles or Galashiels to get advice.
Jenni Wight, CAB’s employment information officer, said: “Many people, whether they are employers or employees, find the maze of rules and regulations pertaining to the workplace difficult to navigate.”
Borders Debt News Conclusion
On a closing note, having spent a few days driving through the Borders, seen the lack of industry, changes will have to be made to ensure that people have the opportunities to earn, if they want to stay in their locations and don’t particularly want to work online.
How wonderful it would be if just one enterprising person could come up with a way of introducing a marketable product which would ensure that the Borders were no longer to be found in the colums of debt news.
