Bricklaying Jobs – Some Pitfalls
Having visited a home and seen that their wall needing rebuilding after a storm, I immediately thought of getting together a group of people to help bring this wall back to its original state, at no cost to the owner for the repair to the wall BUT …
If the wall was not properly built, there could very well be problems in the future, which would incur higher costs than having the wall repaired by a professional bricklayer in the first place. There could well be a clause in the building insurance which would not substantiate a claim, if it was necessary thus rendering the insurance policy, useless.
Bricklaying Jobs- Unskilled work available here
Even though many people can lay a path in or around their own house, without much knowledge, not many people want to take on this task. You would not particularly need a bricklayer.
This is where you could generate that extra income by offering your service of laying the foundations for the new paths, cementing or laying the final brickwork.
One place to find potential bricklaying jobs would be in new housing estates as a lot of house builders do not always include paths nor dividing walls around the side of the property to the back of the property, in their total package.
Another need for paths would be in the garden. How many times have you lived in a house only to wish that you had a path in a certain section of the garden or an area to be sectioned off via a wall.?
Bricklaying jobs and a little bricklaying secret.
If you decide to go down this route, I would like to share a tip I received from an old gentleman, when I took this task on myself. (Yes! I did lay a path and I still smile to think of having achieve that.) Mix a small amount of washing up liquid to the cement mix. It worked a treat as the following winter, most of the other peoples paths had crumbled in the very harsh winter months but mine was stable and lasted without ever needing replacing!
To gain more experience in bricklaying, you could go down the route of attending a night school or also ask someone who is already running a bricklaying business, if you could take lessons from them, by watching, and also helping, them with the work.
Bricklaying jobs are always required, so never underestimate your potential because once you have completed your job, customers will knock at your door.
